PINE ISLAND, Minn. – The Minnesota Department of Transportation invites community members to attend an in-person public meeting on Nov. 18 in Pine Island to learn about noise wall voting for residents and property owners whose properties qualify for voting on the construction of the structures.
The focus of the meeting is for residents and property owners in areas that will qualify for the noise wall voting, based on state law. Two locations were determined to be reasonable and feasible for building noise walls that will provide noticeable levels of noise reduction. Residents and property owners of the areas that would see noticeable levels of noise reduction have been mailed information about the meeting and the voting process, which runs into early December. Noise analysis was done for locations along Highway 52 in preparation for the scheduled road construction project in 2028.
In 2028, construction on Highway 52 is planned from near the Highway 60 interchange to north of Oronoco.
The work includes:
- Resurface southbound Highway 52
- Construct a new frontage road and shared use path to help with safety and access
- Replace a culvert bridge north of Pine Island
- Raise southbound Highway 52 to reduce the risk of flooding near the Middle Fork Zumbro River
- Minor bridge repair work to the 5th St NW bridge over Highway 52 in Oronoco
Here’s when and where you can stop by to learn, listen and ask questions:
- Wednesday, November 18
- 5:30 – 7 p.m.
- American Legion Charles Cowden Post 184, 108 1st Ave SE, Pine Island, MN 55963
